Over the weekend, my brother and sister-in-law told me that my nephews’ newest movie obsession was Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. After stating how sick of the movie they both were, they were shocked that I hadn’t seen the movie and immediately put it on for us all to watch.
The movie is about Flint Lockwood, a goofy inventor (he invented rat birds and spray-on shoes), who lives on the tiny island of Swallow Falls. Once famous for its sardine exports, the sardine factory closed and left the town with sardines as its only source of food. Flint decides to invent a machine that will turn water into food. After some extraordinary events, Flint’s device ends up in the atmosphere and begins raining food.
Sam Sparks, a junior weather reporter, comes to report on the fantastic weather occurrences in Swallow Falls and becomes close to Flint. Eventually, the raining food gets out of control and Flint has to go to some pretty extreme measures to save the world.
The voice cast is quite good. Bill Hader and Anna Faris are both reliable in the humor department. Neil Patrick Harris is sadly underused as Flint’s monkey companion and Lauren Graham (who I am a big fan of) was in just one very short scene. Bruce Campbell is good as the tiny mayor of Swallow Falls with ambitions to become a big mayor. Let’s just say, he doesn’t get any taller, but he does get bigger.
Maybelline’s Wine & Dined is actually the first Maybelline polish I have ever used. The formula was pretty good, and it only required two coats. The color was nice, but all of these wine colored polishes kind of blend together. I will say that this is a great polish for anyone on a budget and will easily stand in effectively for a pricier brand. ~E
