There are two things you should probably know about me. The first is that I am a girly-girl. I have always loved princesses, fairy tales, and pretty nail polish! Although I don’t always have my nails perfectly manicured and painted, I do love to look at all of the colors and fantasize about actually having fancy nails. The problem is that I am lazy and impatient. Painting nails takes time and waiting for them to dry is tortuous. Not only do you have to wait for the nails to dry, you also can’t do anything else until they are dry or you will ruin them and all that time spent was wasted. I can’t tell you how many times I have gone to sleep thinking my freshly painted nails were dry and then waking up the next morning with all sorts of marks and lines in my polish. Arrgh!
The second thing you should know about me is that I love movies. I love to get lost in someone else’s story for two hours. I like cheering for the good guys, who almost always win, and booing the bad guys. The best part of watching movies in the comfort of your own home is that you can do other things while you watch, including painting your nails! That nice two hour window is generally enough time for my nails to dry and after they are painted, I can just sit back and enjoy the movie.
Knowing these two things, it is understandable that a movie and nail polishing blog made sense. It also helped that my sister went blog and nail polish crazy at the same time! Since her new life’s mission is to own as many OPI nail polishes as possible and my life’s mission is to own every movie I have ever moderately enjoyed, the Lady Varnishes was born! ~E.
(K.’s addition: My life’s mission is not to own every OPI. I am an equal opportunity nail polish horder. Why limit myself to one brand? Also, bonus points to anyone who caught the Dirty Rotten Scoundrels quote in the title of the post!)
